MIXED-FLOW CHAMBER

One of the oldest designs of chamber is the wide body chamber designed to accommodate the disc atomiser.

The disc was originally designed in the early part of the last century in Europe  and still in wide use today.

In comparison with the nozzle atomiser the disc has much higher maintenance costs associated and is not as versatile. It does have a greater advantage when drying slurries

The main problems associated with this type of chamber is that due to the width of larger capacities it is an inherently weaker structure than the Tall Form chambers.

To overcome this manufacturers often stiffen the walls using a mild steel frame work which due to differential expansion rates is often the cause internal cracking.
